Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, not continuous with stem, 3.7-9.5 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves or present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 0.5-1 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 2.7-4 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 5.6-8.2 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8.5-16 mm long, multicoloured, mostly orange or brown, with some orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 8-14.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6.5-11 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6-7.2 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 3.5-5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 3.4-4.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in August, September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions.
