Erect annual, herb, to 3 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar to Aug. Clay, black sand, rocky basaltic loam. Floodplains.

Scientific Description

Erect, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 40-80 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands present. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 5-6 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 8-9 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 17-18.3 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 14-17 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 10-11 mm long, not auriculate, keel 13-14 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, hairy at least in part. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 13-14 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 24-25 mm long, 10 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July and August. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Northern Kimberley, Victoria Bonaparte, Central Kimberley and Ord-Victorian-Plain IBRA regions.
