Spreading or sprawling shrub, 0.4-1 m high. Fl. yellow&orange & red, Sep or Dec or Jan to Feb. Sand, laterite.
Scientific Description
Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete or flattened, spiny at least in part, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 50-180 mm long, 5-18 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 4.5-7 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 5.5-7 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10.5-12 mm long, multicoloured, red, mostly yellow or orange, with some yellow or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 9.5-11 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7.5-11 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6.8-8 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.2-0.3 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5.5-6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 10-10.5 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, beaked. Flowers in January, February and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions. Conservation Code Threatened (T).
