Erect shrub, 0.5-1.5 m high. Fl. orange & red, Sep. Lateritic sandy soils. Sandplains.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, continuous with stem, 10-30 mm long, 4-15 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 1-2 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 4-5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 9.5-11 mm long, multicoloured, mostly red or orange, with some red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 7.5-11 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7-9 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7.5-10 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 7.5-9 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 9-11 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, beaked. Flowers in September. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains and Avon Wheatbelt IBRA regions.
