Erect or spreading, slender shrub, 0.2-1 m high. Fl. yellow & red/brown, Apr or Sep to Oct. Sandy soils. Often swampy areas.

Scientific Description

Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite, not continuous with stem, 6-15 mm long, 1.2-2.5 mm wide, glabrous, flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves or present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 1.5-2.5 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles present and persistent, 0.8-1 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 5.7-6.4 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8.5-10.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or brown, with some yellow, red or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 7-10.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7-9 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6-7.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.3-0.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 3.7-4.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 3-5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in April, September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
