Prostrate or erect, pungent shrub, 0.07-1.2(-2) m high, inflorescences basal. Fl. red, May to Sep. Mostly sandy soils.

Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling. Stems spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades absent or apparently so (reduced to scales), glabrous, flat with flat margins, 0.5-1.5. Pedicel present, 2-15 mm long, hairy. Calyx 20-25 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla uniformly coloured, red; claws present; standard 9-10 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, not auriculate, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base). Flowers in May and September. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Yalgoo, Murchison, Coolgardie, Geraldton Sandplains, Avon Wheatbelt, Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions.
