Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 4.5-5 mm long, 0.5 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves, 0.6 mm long. Pedicel present, 1.5(-6) mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 4.5-5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11-12 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red or orange, with some yellow, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-10.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7.5-8 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-7.6 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.6 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 6.5-7.6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 4-6 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 14-15 mm long, 7-8 mm wide, sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, glabrous, beaked. Flowers in October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest IBRA regions. Conservation Code Priority One (P1).
