Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

The notice period started at 9:45 am on Friday, 12 December 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 2 March 2026 +08:00.

Erect, much-branched shrub or tree, 1-3 m high. Fl. white-green, Aug to Nov. Sandy & clayey soils. Rocky limestone, flats, edges of salt lakes.

Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, +/- cylindrical in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves alternate, simple, 15-55 mm long, 2-3 mm wide, flat, the margins flat, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers in axillary, loose clusters (cymes or panicles) or in terminal, loose clusters (cymes or panicles); pedicels 2 mm long; calyx present, 0.5-1 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; corolla white or cream or green, petals five, 2.5-2.7 mm long, valvate (not overlapping), free, glabrous; stamens the same number as petals, 0.7 mm long, smooth, glabrous; anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, without an appendage. Flowers in August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Coolgardie, Nullabor, Hampton, Mallee and Esperance IBRA region(s). Conservation Code: Priority Three (P3).
