Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Scientific Description

Shrub, with hairy stems. Leaves 20(-40) mm long, tripartitely lobed, simply (once-)lobed; hairy, with Simple hairs (without tubercle bases), with stellate hairswith scales absent, Sessile glands absent. Perianth clearly of two whorls (calyx and corolla), the corolla obvious and prominent. Calyx green, 25-30 mm long, the lobes fused less than half their length, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) present, stellate hairs present, Terminal appendages absent, number of ribs absent. Corolla pink or purple, 35-75 mm long. Stamens many; filaments present. Staminodes absent, appendages absent. Ovary hairs and scales absent (ovary quite glabrous); style 1, 14-18 mm long, with five style branches or lobes. Fruits not accrescent; carpels 5; seeds per loculus ≥5. Flowering time August or December. Distribution Botanical Province Eremaean or South-West, IBRA Bioregion Great Sandy Desert, Coolgardie, Mallee and Esperance. Conservation Code Priority Three (P3).
