Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Scientific Description

Leaves flat, 300-460 mm long, 8-9 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin absent; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, glabrous, 500-525 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 4-4.5 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 2-2.5 mm long, NaN (?) mm long; flowers 7-8 mm long. Perianth glabrous, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, orange to orange-brown or red, clearly with three inner and three outer tepals, the inner segments 5-6 mm long. Stamens three, in one level; filaments 1.5-2 mm long; anther 1.5-2 mm long, without an appendage. Style 6-7 mm long. Flowers in January or February. Occurs in the Northern Kimberley IBRA bioregion(s), of the Northern Botanical Province. Conservation Code Priority One (P1).
