Habit and structure. Thallus forming monostromatic crusts to 400 μm in extent, but probably spreading indefinitely to the margins of the host plant, with a central pseudoparenchyma and marginal filaments that are free, and with unilateral or opposite lateral branches, these occasionally forming secondary parenchymatous regions. Cells angular centrally, 3–10 μm long, becoming linear and elongate near the thallus margin, to 12 μm long and 2–4 μm diam.
Distribution. Probably cosmopolitan. In Australia reported from Lord Howe Island, the Dampier Archipelago and the southern Great Barrier Reef.
Habitat. Epiphytic on various macroalgae.
