Scientific Description
Rhizomes spreading, hairy. Basal sheath glabrous, dull or glossy, striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) hollow, glabrous, striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 480-880 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, glabrous, margins translucent. Apex elongated, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Male and female inflorescences distinctly dissimilar, posture (male inflorescences only) More or less erect, Culms unbranched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 4.5-6.5 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, Outer bract 2.2-3.5 mm long, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Perianth glabrous. 2-2.3 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Inner bract 2.7-3.2 mm long. Anther NaN (?) mm long. Female spikelet 2.4-4 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 2.3-3.2 mm long. Perianth glabrous. 1.6-1.8 mm long. Inner bracts 1.5-2.6 mm long, glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Style three (or three-branched). 1.3-2.7 mm long. Fruit indehiscent (nut).
