Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.5-1 m high, sterile 'nest' fronds and 1-pinnatifid fertile fronds, lobes strap-like; sori circular. Fl. Jan to Mar. Peaty sand. Rock crevices, on rock shelves, in soil amongst boulders.
