Low or ascending shrub, (0.03-)0.2-0.7 m high. Fl. purple-pink, Mar or Oct. Red sandy soils.
Scientific Description
Shrub, with hairy stems. Leaves 15-45 mm long, 10-20 mm wide, not lobed; margins serrate; hairy, with stellate hairswith scales absent, Sessile glands absent; stipules present and persistent to older leaves or present but early deciduous (only visible on youngest leaves), 10-15 mm long. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) 6-8 mm long. Calyx green, 10-15 mm long. Corolla pink or purple, 2-3 mm long. Fruits dehiscent (capsules and follicles), length-width ratio more or less as long as wide, hairs or scales present, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) present, stellate hairs present, Sessile glands absent, tubercle-based simple hairs absent, gland-tipped hairs absent, scales absent; apex rounded; prickles absent (except perhaps a terminal awn); terminal awns or spines absent; calyx persistent to mature fruit; seeds per loculus 2-4.
