Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets verrucose (warty), +/- cylindrical in cross-section, covered in hairs or scales, the hairs stellate (star-shaped). Leaves alternate, simple, 4-9.5 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, flat, the margins revolute, verrucose (warty), covered in hairs or scales, with stellate (star shaped) hairs; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers terminal. solitary; pedicels 1.5-2 mm long; calyx present, 1-1.6 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous except for a ciliate marginal fringe, the hairs stellate (star-shaped); corolla pink or white or cream, petals five, 4.5-5.5 mm long, imbricate (overlapping), free, hairy on the surfaces; stamens twice as many as petals, 2-2.5 mm long, smooth, hairy; anthers 0.5-1 mm long, without an appendage; style 4 mm long, hairy. Flowers in May, June, September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt IBRA region(s). Conservation Code: Priority Two (P2).
