Mangrove shrub or tree, 2-20 m high. Fl. white, Nov to Dec or Jan to Apr. Tidal flats, along creeks.
Scientific Description
Shrub or tree, with glabrous or scaly stems. Leaves 40-205 mm long, 15-30 mm wide, not lobed; margins entire; hairywith scales scales or absent, Sessile glands absent; stipules present but early deciduous (only visible on youngest leaves). Perianth clearly of two whorls (calyx and corolla), the corolla obvious and prominent. Pedicel present, 8-10 mm long; indumentum present, with stellate hairs absent, with scales scales. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) present, 1-2 mm long, the lobes fused half or more of their length, indumentum present, simple hairs (without tubercle bases) absent, stellate hairs absent, gland-tipped hairs absentwith scales scales, Sessile glands absent. Calyx 11-12 mm long, the lobes fused half or more of their length, Sessile glands absent, scales scales present, Terminal appendages absent, number of ribs absent. Corolla white, 12-14 mm long, glabrous. Indumentum (outside) Sessile glands absent. Stamens many, united and arising from a staminal tube around the style; filaments present, 2.2-2.7 mm long; anthers 1-1.1 mm long, indumentum absent (anthers glabrous). Staminodes absent, appendages absent. Ovary hairs or scales present, simple hairs absent, stellate hairs present, gland-tipped hairs absent; style 1, with a lobed or capitate stigma, 4-4.5 mm long, with one style branches or lobes, mostly glabrous, wing absent. Flowering time January, February, March, April, November or December. Distribution Botanical Province Northern, IBRA Bioregion North Kimberley and Dampierland.
