Tufted, as opposed to rhizomatous herb or (fern ally), 0.01-0.05 m high, sterile leaves dimorphic: large lateral leaves and small median leaves; strobili indistinct. Fl. May to Aug. Sandstone or clay over basalt. Damp rock ledges near waterfalls, banks of waterholes or creeks.
