Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, +/- cylindrical in cross-section, covered in hairs or scales, the hairs simple. Leaves opposite, simple, 3.5-4 mm long, 1.2-2 mm wide, flat, the margins flat, smooth, without distinct raised glands, covered in hairs or scales, with simple hairs; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels 4.5-7 mm long; calyx present, 4-6 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, covered in hairs or scales, the hairs simple; corolla pink, white or cream or blue, petals four, 7.5-9 mm long, imbricate (overlapping), free, hairy on the surfaces; stamens twice as many as petals, 2.5-3 mm long, smooth, hairy, with an appendage. Flowers in April, July, August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Yalgoo, Murchison, Great Victoria Desert, Mallee and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA region(s).
