Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, +/- cylindrical in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves opposite, simple, 3-5.5 mm long, 0.5 mm wide, terete or subterete, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers in axillary, loose clusters (cymes or panicles) or in terminal, loose clusters (cymes or panicles); pedicels 4-5 mm long; calyx present, 2-3 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; corolla blue, petals four, 7-9.3 mm long, imbricate (overlapping), free, glabrous; stamens twice as many as petals, warty with prominent raised glands, glabrous, with an appendage. Flowers in September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Warren and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA region(s).
