Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.1-0.35 m high, stipe purplish-black; sori oblong, often coalescing with age and covering most of undersurface. Fl. May to Oct. Loam. Shady, wet sites, near waterfalls, limestone outcrops.
