Erect, open, spiny shrub, to 3 m high. Red to red-brown sand, sandy loam or sandy clay, grey clay, laterite, limestone, basalt. Rocky scree slopes and cliff faces, hills and rangelands, cracking clay plains, flood plains, creek margins.
