Stoloniferous, tussock-forming perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.2-0.4 m high, leaf sheath with fringed auricles, panicle linear spiciform racemose. Fl. yellow-green, Mar to May or Jul to Sep. Sandy loam, sandy clay. Low seasonally flooded flats, watercourses, higher parts of saltmarshes.
