Twining, aquatic or sub-aquatic perennial, herb, 0.2-1.2 m high, peduncles twining for support; calyx lobes 2; corolla c. 20 mm wide; palate with 2 yellow ridges. Fl. violet-purple, Sep to Dec. Peaty soils. Usually in water 5-45 cm deep, swamps.
