Rhizomatous, robust perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 1-2.6 m high, pendulous inflorescences. Fl. red/brown, Jan to Dec (mainly Sep-Dec). Wet, black sand, waterlogged soils. Seasonal swamps, borders of lakes.
