Erect or ascending, woody perennial, herb or shrub, 0.2-0.6 m high, stem with rounded angles & 3 distinct grooves. Fl. blue, Aug to Nov. White/grey sand, gravel, decomposed granite. Rocky hillsides, plains, coastal dunes.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 15-40 mm long, 5-22 mm wide, Indumentum absent (leaves glabrous); margins toothed. Bracteoles present, 2.5-3 mm long, glabrous. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 1.5-4 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with absent hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 1.2-1.5 mm long, hairy, with dense, simple hairs. Corolla blue or purple, 9-13 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with dense, simple hairs, glabrous on the inside; central lobes 4-6.5 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 6-8 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 0.8-1.2 mm wide on the narrower side, 1.2-1.5 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers connate. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 2-3.5 mm long, glabrous; indusium single, glabrous; ovules one or two. Flowers in August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Coolgardie (COO), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Jarrah Forest (JF), Mallee (MAL), Warren (WAR) and Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) and South West (SW) Botanical Province.
