Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Ascending perennial, herb or shrub, 0.2-0.6 m high. Fl. blue, Jul to Nov. Yellow or red sand, sometimes over laterite. Breakaways, undulating plains.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 4-10 mm long, 1.5-2.5 mm wide, Indumentum present, with dense, dendritic hairs; margins entire or toothed. Bracteoles present, 1.7-2.5 mm long, hairy, with hairy hairs. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 1-2 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with simple hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 0-0.1 mm long, hairy, with dense, simple hairs. Corolla blue, 5-6 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with dense, dendritic hairs, glabrous on the inside; central lobes 2-5.5 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 3-6.5 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 0.6 mm wide on the narrower side, 1-2 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers connate. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 2.5-3.5 mm long, glabrous; indusium single, glabrous; ovules one or two. Flowers in July, August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD) and Coolgardie (COO) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) Botanical Province.
