Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Prostrate annual, herb, stems to 80 cm long. Fl. yellow, May to Sep. Red sandy, often stony soils.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 8-75 mm long, 5-20 mm wide, Indumentum absent (leaves glabrous) or present, with dense, dendritic hairs; margins entire. Bracteoles present, 2.5-4 mm long, glabrous. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 12-15 mm long, glabrous. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 2-3 mm long, glabrous. Corolla yellow, 12-16 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, hairy or glabrous on the outside, with dense, simple hairs, glabrous on the inside; central lobes 3-8.5 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 7-10.5 mm long, wings present on both sides, 1-1.7 mm wide. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 6.5-7.5 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in May, June, July, August and September. Occurs in the Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD), Central Ranges (CR), Gascoyne (GAS), Gibson Desert (GD) and Little Sandy Desert(LSD) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) Botanical Province.
