Erect, woody with basal rosette perennial, herb, 0.3-1 m high. Fl. blue, Jun to Nov. Red or yellow sand.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 10-190 mm long, 2.5-50 mm wide, Indumentum present, with sparse, glandular hairs; margins entire or toothed. Bracteoles present, 6-8 mm long, hairy, with glandular hairs. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 4.5-12 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with glandular hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 5-6 mm long, hairy, with dense or sparse, glandular hairs. Corolla blue, 18-27 mm long, without auricles, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with sparse, glandular hairs, hairy on the inside; central lobes 5.5-6 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 9-15.5 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 0.7-1.5 mm wide on the narrower side, 1.5-2 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 13-15 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in June, July, August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Pilbara (PIL), Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD), Central Ranges (CR), Great Sandy Desert (GSD) and Little Sandy Desert(LSD) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) Botanical Province.
