Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Erect, short-lived annual or perennial, herb, 0.2-0.5 m high. Fl. purple-blue/pink-purple, Oct to Dec or Jan. Red sand. Sandplains.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 20-45 mm long, 5-10 mm wide, Indumentum present, with dense, glandular hairs; margins entire. Bracteoles present, 4.5-5 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 5.5-7 mm long, hairy, with dense, simple hairs. Corolla purple, 15-17 mm long, without auricles, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with dense, simple hairs, glabrous on the inside, with wings, 0.7-1.3 mm wide, wings present on both sides. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 7-9 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in January, October, November and December. Occurs in the Carnarvon (CAR) and Geraldton Sandplains (GS) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) and South West (SW) Botanical Province. Conservation Code: Conservation code Priority Three (P3).
