Stiff, erect perennial, herb, 0.2-0.6 m high. Fl. blue-purple/white, May to Dec. Red or yellow sand. Sand dunes, sandplains.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 20-40 mm long, 15-20 mm wide, Indumentum present, with sparse, absent hairs; margins entire. Bracteoles present, 1.5-2 mm long, hairy, with glandular hairs. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 13-25 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with glandular hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 1.2-1.5 mm long, hairy, with dense, glandular hairs. Corolla mauve or cream, 21-28 mm long, without auricles, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with sparse, glandular hairs, hairy on the inside; central lobes 7-10 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 7-9.5 mm long, wings present on both sides, 0.5-1.2 mm wide. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 10-15 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules one or two. Flowers in May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD), Central Ranges (CR), Gibson Desert (GD), Great Sandy Desert (GSD), Little Sandy Desert(LSD) and Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA Region(s), of the Eremaean (E) and South West (SW) Botanical Province.
