Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Erect to spreading shrub, 0.15-0.7 m high. Fl. blue-purple, Sep to Dec or Jan to Mar. Sandy soils.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 10-55 mm long, 5-20 mm wide, Indumentum present, with sparse, simple hairs; margins entire or toothed. Bracteoles present, 3.5-4.5 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 5-7.5 mm long, hairy, with dense, simple hairs. Corolla blue or mauve, 11-15 mm long, without auricles, not spurred, hairy or glabrous on the outside, with sparse, simple hairs, hairy on the inside, 0.7-1.2 mm wide. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 6-7.5 mm long, glabrous; indusium single, hairy; ovules one or two. Flowers in January, February, March, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Mallee (MAL) and Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA Region(s), of the South West (SW) Botanical Province.
