Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 10-40 mm long, 1-2.5 mm wide, Indumentum present, with dense, glandular hairs; margins entire. Bracteoles present, 4-12 mm long, hairy, with glandular hairs. Pedicel absent (flowers sessile). Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 6-8 mm long, hairy, with sparse, glandular hairs. Corolla mauve, 13-18 mm long, without auricles, rarely not spurred, hairy on the outside, with sparse, glandular hairs, hairy on the inside; central lobes 6-7 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 5.5-8 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 1.2 mm wide on the narrower side, 1.5 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers rarely free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 9-10 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules one or two. Flowers in January, August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Jarrah Forest (JF), Warren (WAR) and Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA Region(s), of the South West (SW) Botanical Province.
