Annual or perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.01-0.7(-1) m high, spikelets 1-1.5 mm wide, arranged in clusters; glumes 0.7-1.5 mm long, mucronate; stamens 1 or 2. Fl. yellow-brown, Feb to Apr or Jul. Claypans and other damp habitats.
