Rosetted perennial, herb, 0.2-0.5 m high, Leaves tufted, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, 2-8 cm long, 0.5-3.2 mm wide, apex subacute, margin entire, glabrous. Scape glabrous. Inflorescence racemose. Fl. white/violet/purple, Oct to Dec or Jan. Sand or loamy sand. Hillslopes and dunes, winter wet depressions and swamps. Woodland, shrubland.
