Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.03-0.25 m high, with curry-like smell when dried; spikelets flat; glumes distichous with recurved mucro. Fl. green-brown, Feb to Aug. Red or silty loam. Along watercourses, drainage lines, in claypans.
