Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.1-0.4 m high, glumes 1.5-2 mm long, appressed to antrorse; anthers 0.5-0.7 mm long. Fl. brown/white, Jan to Feb or May to Oct. Sand, clay, alluvium. In and along watercourses, margins of permanent pools.
