Low, spreading to erect shrub, 0.6-2.5 m high. Fl. red, May to Nov. Loam, clay-loam, laterite, quartzite. Rocky slopes, open heathland.
Scientific Description
Shrubs, 0.6-2.5 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 30-80 mm long, 3-12 mm wide, hairy, on the abaxial surface, the hairs straight; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins flat. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, red, pink or brown; pedicels 2.5-5 mm long. Perianth 5-8 mm long; tepals all free after flower opens, hairy, simple-hairy; ovary glabrous, stipitate, the stipe 1.6-3 mm long; pistil 7.5-10.5 mm long, green or yellow, pollen presenter lateral, style hairy or glabrous. Follicles glabrous, not viscid, dehiscent, 13-17 mm long. Flowers in May, June, July, August, September, October or November. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) Botanical Province(s), in the Central Ranges (CR) IBRA subregion(s). : Conservation code Priority One (P1).
