Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.05-0.4 m high, inflorescence of 3-many acute spikelets; axis prominently winged; glumes 1-1.5mm long; stamens 1(-2). Fl. brown, Feb to Jul. Brown clayey sand, clay, alluvium, red loam. Claypans, swamps, along watercourses and drainage lines.
