Tufted annual or biennial (rarely), grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.05-0.5 m high, inflorescence of 3-many spikelets; glumes 2-2.5 mm long; stamens 3, anthers 1.2-1.7 mm long. Fl. green/brown, Mar to Jun. Grey sandy clay, damp or red sand. Swamps, along watercourses, claypans.
