Rhizomatous, tufted robust perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 2.5 m high, clumps to 2 m wide. Fl. brown/other, Apr or Jun or Sep to Nov. White sand, brown loam. Creek and river edges, swamps (occasionally tidal).
