Guichenotia macrantha Turcz.
Guichenotia macrantha (Large-flowered Guichenotia) is an upright, small to medium shrub growing to 1.5 m in height and boasting large crepey, soft pink to mauve flowers. The petals are very small with the sepals providing the colourful parts of the flowers, which are conspicuously displayed, hanging like bells or lanterns from the erect stems during May to September. The species epithet macrantha is from Greek macros, large and anthos, a flower, referring to the large flowers of the species.
Large-flowered Guichenotia is endemic to WA where it ranges from the Murchison River north of Perth to Pingaring. Plants can be seen growing in coastal heath, shrubland or open woodland on brown sand, often mixed with laterite or in clayey sand.
