Erect, tall, spindly annual or perennial, herb, to 0.5 m high, leaves terete. Fl. yellow, Apr or Sep to Dec or Jan to Feb. Yellow clayey sand, shelly sand, black sandy clay, gravel, laterite. Seasonally-wet sites, undulating dunes, disturbed ground around wet areas.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 15-150 mm long, 1.5-10 mm wide, Indumentum present, with sparse, simple hairs; margins entire. Bracteoles present, 2-3 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 7-15 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with simple hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 1.3-2 mm long, hairy, with sparse, simple hairs. Corolla yellow, 9-10 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with sparse, simple hairs, hairy on the inside; central lobes 2-3 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 5.5-7 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 1-1.5 mm wide on the narrower side, 1.3-2 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 3.5-4 mm long, glabrous; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in February, April, May, June, July, August and September. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA) and Jarrah Forest (JF) IBRA Region(s), of the South West (SW) Botanical Province.
